If you do not have a left thumb, the guidelines allow the right thumb. The declaration text is given in the notification — copy it exactly, in your own handwriting, in English; capital letters are not accepted.

The same scanning guidelines are used by IBPS for RRB, PO, Clerk and SO, and closely by SBI and RBI. Check the annexure of your current notification for any change.

How to use

  1. Pick the tab for what you are uploading: Photo, Signature, Left thumb or Declaration.
  2. Choose the photo or scan. For thumb and declaration, take the picture straight from above in daylight.
  3. Crop it in the frame. Turn on Clean signature to whiten the paper for signature and declaration (for the thumb, try it on and off and keep whichever shows the ridges best).
  4. Download each file with Download JPG — the names tell you which is which.

Four uploads, four sets of rules

IBPS applications ask for more files than most exams, and each has its own size. It is easy to resize the photo correctly and then lose an evening on the declaration. This page keeps all four presets side by side, so you can move through them one after another: choose a tab, add the image, download, then switch to the next tab.

Each file is named after its purpose — for example ibps-left-thumb-240x240.jpg — so you will not mix them up on the upload screen.

Common rejection reasons and fixes

Signature in capital letters. IBPS rejects capital-letter signatures. Sign as you normally would; the same signature is used on the call letter and attendance sheet.

Smudged thumb impression. Too much ink fills the ridges. Press lightly on the stamp pad, roll the thumb gently once on paper and let it dry before photographing.

Declaration not in your handwriting or not in English. It must be written by you in English. A declaration in another language or in capitals is rejected even if the size is correct.

File under the minimum KB. All four uploads have a minimum. Simple scans can fall below it; the tool keeps every file inside its range and shows the final KB.

Photo different from your appearance. Photos are matched at the venue and at joining. Avoid very old photos, heavy filters or big changes such as removing a beard after the photo.

Getting clean scans with a phone

Place the paper on a flat surface near a window, avoid your own shadow by holding the phone slightly to the side, and fill the screen with the part you need. For the declaration, leave a little margin around the text; for the signature, sign inside a box about 3.5 cm wide and 1.5 cm high so the proportions match 140 × 60.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IBPS RRB photo and signature size?

The photo is 200 × 230 pixels and 20–50 KB; the signature is 140 × 60 pixels and 10–20 KB. Both must be JPG. These are the preferred sizes listed in the IBPS scanning guidelines.

How do I scan the left thumb impression?

Press your left thumb on a stamp pad with black or blue ink, then on plain white paper. Photograph it in daylight, crop it in the Left thumb tab, and download. The tool makes it 240 × 240 pixels and between 20 and 50 KB.

What do I write in the hand-written declaration?

Copy the exact declaration text given in your notification, in English, in your own running handwriting with a black pen. Do not write it in capital letters and do not type it — typed or someone else's handwriting is rejected.

The declaration is too big in KB. How do I fix it?

Use the Declaration tab: it crops the page to 800 × 400 pixels and keeps the file between 50 and 100 KB. Write the text in a compact block so it fills the wide frame.

Can I use the same photo for IBPS PO, Clerk and RRB?

Yes, if it is recent and meets the size rules. But keep the photo you upload, because you may need the same photo on the call letter and at document verification.

Why does IBPS also capture a photo at the exam centre?

IBPS takes a photo at the venue and compares it with the photo you uploaded. A recent, clear, front-facing photo without heavy edits avoids problems on exam day.
