Use these as a starting point only. Each recruitment notice can change the size, so copy the numbers printed next to the upload button on your own form into the boxes above.

How to use

  1. Type the width and height in pixels and the min / max KB your form asks for, or tap a quick size like 200×230.
  2. Choose a photo from your phone, drag it in, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  3. Move and zoom the photo inside the frame. The frame already has the right shape, so nothing will be stretched.
  4. Check the After box shows the right pixels and KB, then tap Download JPG.

Why forms reject photos that “look fine”

Online application portals do not look at your photo the way a person does. They run three quick checks the moment you press upload: is it a JPG, are the pixel dimensions right, and is the file size inside the KB range. A photo straight from a modern phone camera fails all three — it is usually 3000 to 4000 pixels wide, 2 to 6 MB in size, and sometimes saved as HEIC. This tool fixes all three at once, entirely inside your browser.

The custom fields above let you match any form, including state PSC, university admission, scholarship, police recruitment and job portals that are not covered by our ready-made pages. When a form gives you only a KB limit and no pixel size, set width and height to 0. The photo then keeps its own shape and only the file size is reduced.

Common rejection reasons and fixes

“Image dimensions are invalid.” The portal wants an exact width and height. Type them exactly as printed — some forms mean width × height and others height × width, so look at whether the example photo is tall or wide.

“File size should be between 20 KB and 50 KB.” Fill in both Min KB and Max KB. Leaving Min KB at 0 can produce a 12 KB file that is too small for such forms.

“Only JPG/JPEG allowed.” The download is always a real JPEG, even if you started with PNG, WEBP or an iPhone HEIC photo. Do not rename a PNG to .jpg yourself — portals check the file contents.

Photo looks blurry after upload. You probably cropped a tiny face out of a group photo. Start from a close, well-lit photo where your face is large; the tool scales down very cleanly but cannot add detail that is not there.

Black background around the photo. PNG screenshots with transparent areas turn black in some converters. Here, transparent areas are filled with white before saving.

Tips for a photo that passes first time

Stand facing a plain white or light wall, about a metre away from it so your shadow does not fall on it. Use daylight from a window in front of you rather than the ceiling light above you. Keep your phone at eye level and do not use beauty filters or portrait blur. A photo taken this way compresses to a small KB size and still looks sharp.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to exactly 50 KB?

Set Max KB to 50 and keep Min KB at 0, or set the range your form gives (for example 20 to 50). The tool tries the highest JPEG quality first and lowers it step by step until the file fits, so you get the best-looking photo that is still under 50 KB.

What is the difference between pixels and KB?

Pixels are the width and height of the picture, like 200 × 230. KB is how much storage the file takes. Two photos with the same pixels can have very different KB because of detail and JPEG quality. Forms usually check both, so this tool sets both.

My form gives the size in centimetres. What should I type?

Multiply centimetres by the dpi and divide by 2.54. At 300 dpi, 3.5 × 4.5 cm becomes 413 × 531 pixels; at 200 dpi it becomes 276 × 354. If the form gives no dpi, 200 dpi is a safe choice for uploads. Type that dpi in the DPI box so it is written into the file.

Can I make a photo bigger in KB if the form says minimum 20 KB?

Yes. Put 20 in Min KB. The tool first raises JPEG quality. If a very small or plain image still comes out lighter than 20 KB, it adds harmless blank data inside the file so it reaches the minimum without changing how the photo looks.

Does this work without internet?

Once the page has loaded, everything runs in your browser, so you can turn off mobile data and continue. After the first visit the page is also saved for offline use on most Android phones.

Why does my phone show a slightly different KB than the website?

Phones and Windows count 1 KB as 1024 bytes, while some portals count 1000 bytes. To be safe, this tool keeps the file under the stricter limit, so if you set 50 KB the file is always under 50,000 bytes.
